Tips for safer web browsing when using Adobe Flash on your Mac
Last week’s mac techmail was Tips for safer web browsing when using Adobe Flash on your Mac which talks about using ClickToFlash on the mac to prevent flash from automatically loading. Since flash is pretty awful and there have been a lot of security holes in it, I prefer the security of having to click on a specific piece of flash I want to see, rather than letting anything on any site load whenever it feels like it.

I prefer the John Gruber method…uninstall flash and install Google Chrome…activate the Develop menu in safari and then just Open-with-chrome whenever you find something with flash that you *have* to see…since chrome comes with its own integrated flash, it loads stuff even if you don’t have flash installed system-wide…and when you close chrome, flash is closed too, unlike it happens when you close a window that is running flash in another browser…so it’s also a great battery saver on your laptop
